Why I'm a Ladies of Metal Spokesmodel:
During 2013, when I discovered LOM, I was at the lowest point in my life. I had completely lost my identity in a toxic relationship and was limiting myself by a lack of self-confidence and self-love. I would always look up to these women - from the modeling aspect, to their interaction with heavy metal music, and most of all their influence on women all over the world. Back then I would always tell myself that I wasn’t good enough, talented enough, or beautiful enough to even be considered a candidate for LOM. But I’ve always been a firm believer that life is what you make of it – so I finally found the strength to leave my toxic relationship and find myself again. I spent years of self-discovery and learning how to love myself. I never stopped looking up to the Ladies of Metal models. I looked to them for encouragement, inspiration and confirmation that women are always able to break the stereotype. Years later and I can honestly say that I am 100% in love with how my life is going, the person that I have become and the woman that will constantly evolve. I want to be the person I was looking up to when I needed it most. I want to be a voice for the women who find their passion in the heavy metal music industry. I want to break the mold – of what someone “has” to look like to promote this genre. And I truly believe that I have the personality, drive and passion to represent the Ladies of Metal company in all that I do. Movies: Anything and everything Horror, Somewhere in Time, Dude Where’s My Car, Big Fish, and anything Tim Burton creates. Television: I don’t think cable is a necessity, but Netflix is awesome for American Horror Story, Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, That 70’s Show, Sex and the City, Invader Zim, and documentaries. Food & Drink: I’m Italian so it would be a crime to not love Italian food, but Mexican food is definitely a close second. Obsessions & Addictions: I’m currently a full-time student at Kent State University studying Visual Journalism. But I am also running my photography business HeyEmmaJaye. Needless to say, I am obsessively passionate about visual storytelling. Whether it has to do with hard hitting human elements, or being active in my local heavy metal scene through telling their stories- Photography, videography and writing are my most favorite addictions. |
